Stories fit the time in which they were written. These stories were collected from over a hundred years ago. Life was very different than from what it is now. For instance, there were no automobiles then. If you wanted to go anywhere, you walked or rode on horseback or traveled in a buggy or a wagon. There were some other ways to travel, of course. There were railway trains, with short wooden cars that had wooden seats. There were also boats as well as steamboats for travel by water. Although these stories are from a hundred or more years ago, they still have the same principles that apply to a child of today's world. With every story there is a moral lesson. You might even read a story that your mother or father may have read when they were kids! Some of these stories may also appear in well known books as Sabbath Readings for the Home.

A collection of stories and poems by M.A. Vroman and is considered one of the cornerstones of inspirational literature so popular among turn-of-the-century readers. Part of a trend of inexpensive prayer books published for "the family circle," this volume contains "best lessons" in order to instill values in the young such as obedience to one's parents; kindness and affection toward brothers, sisters and friends; compassion for the poor; and the necessity for daily observance of the Gospel. These virtuous, if high-minded, stories contain indispensable principles for those interested in moral and religious parables of early 20th-century literature.

This children's book tells the story of an old barrel-organ and the character who surrounded it: lonely old Treffly, who owned and played it as his only comfort, not knowing a greater Comforter; little Christie, who loved to hear "Home, Sweet Home," the last tune his mother sang, and came to play the organ for his old master; and how the two came to see their need for Jesus' blood, which cleanses from all sin.

John grew up poverty stricken in Louisiana’s bayou country. Because of familial connections, arrangements were made for him and Peggy, his sister, to attend the local Catholic school. At 14, he started asking questions that annoyed the monsignor in charge. Since the priest didn’t have answers to the honest spiritual questions, he raged. Nevertheless, John asked the nuns for a Bible. They turned a deaf ear to his repeated requests. Read more below!
Gifted musically, John easily learned to play the saxophone. By 15, he was making music in dance halls and bars. Enticed by the world, he left his spiritual desires in the dust.
God wasn’t done seeking for his heart, however. Newly graduated from high school, he found work in the oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico. On the very first rig, an explosion and fire threatened the lives of the crew. God spared his life in the midst of this peril. His attention was on high alert, so Bible study ensued.
Years passed, and he left for the oil fields in Iran. There he lived the high life. There he found a young wife. They left for the United States shortly after the last Shah was deposed. The western lifestyle intrigued the young mother. More interested in the night life, their marriage began to deteriorate. John took a job close to home, but illness racked his frame. He conversed with another John, and asked his favorite question, expecting the same unsatisfactory answer.
“Tell me about the Sabbath.”
This time, a very different response brought about more questions from the invalid. His respiratory ailments precluded John from ever smoking and playing the saxophone. Thus, he dug deeper into God’s Word.
Meanwhile, his party-loving wife finally admitted to him that she was having an affair outside their marriage. A mad fury twisted him in knots. Rational thought vanished when he witnessed them together. A heated struggle ended when John plunged a knife into his opponent, leaving him lifeless.
Splattered with his rival’s blood, he fled the scene. Quickly, he was arrested. Tried. Convicted.
What could God do with an incarcerated, blackened soul? You’ll be able to trace John’s steps in accepting God’s call, “Follow Me.” His prayer is that you will accept the same call.

The words, "Foreigners have been killed," jumped out at me. Our house was six blocks from the hospital. I feared that Wayne and Ronnalee might be caught in the melee before they had time to get to the safety of the hospital. Maybe the hospital wasn't a safe place, either. My mind skipped from one thought to another: Had the military or the mob occupied the hospital? Were my family and friends still alive? Or were they among the foreigners who had been killed? What a pity that the young king had been assassinated!
Then the machine began typing out more information, "The United States is sending Marines into Lebanon to secure the situation there. They fear the trouble in Iraq might spill over to neighboring countries. The Lebanese Moslems are dissatisfied with the Christian majority leaders. Israel is worried that Jordan and Syria will attack them."
I turned to Julius, "It looks like the whole Middle East is coming unglued. Let's go."
Join Midge and Wayne and their children on their adventures through the Middle East to countries including Iraq, Lebanon, and Egypt. Although they are faced with danger and adversity, the joy and thrill they felt to introduce the people to Christ made it all worthwhile.

Fun loving, energetic Midge is back for a third installment of adventure in Midge in Lebanon as she leaves her "center of the world" and travels around the world to fulfill her dream of becoming a missionary.
Accompanied by her husband, Wayne, Midge encounters new experiences as she learns to enjoy new foods, new entertainment, and new trials. Soon Midge learns the joys of motherhood after she is blessed with a daughter, Ronnalee, and a son named David.
Through it all, Midge and Wayne work to bring the Word of God to the unreached masses of Lebanon, although their labor is not always well-received. Time and again they escape with their lives through drunken brawls, gunfire, and the ardent work of the devil to discourage them. But in these experiences they find those who are truly searching and those in need, which make their difficulties all worth it.
Readers can enjoy first-hand the joys and perils of this real-life missionary in this down-to-earth tale of a new family fulfilling their dreams and drawing closer to the God they love and to each other.

Robert Moffat first heard from his wise and pious mother's lips that there were heathen in the world and of the efforts of Christians sharing the knowledge of a Savior who could raise them out of their base degradation. An intense desire took possession of him to serve God in some marked manner, but he did not know how that would be. Through a series of providential circumstances and in God's good time, the London Society accepted him as one of their missionaries, and in 1816 he embarked on his first trip and got his first glimpse of heathen Africa. This book will inspire young and old as you read the many trials, disappointments, triumphs, and wondrous miracles that God can accomplish when one is fully surrendered to Him.
